Iligan City


Iligan City is a highly urbanized city of Northern Mindanao at the province of Lanao del Norte Philippines which consists of 44 barangays, and the province's previous capital. It is about 795 kilometers southeast of Manila. Base on 2007 census, it has a residential record of 308,046 people. Iligan form its earliest settlement at Bayug few kilometers away from the present city. Name Iligan is from Higaunon word “iligan” or ilijan” meaning “fortress of defense”.

Iligan City is known to be the “City of Waterfalls” because of its 20 enormous waterfalls, situated in different barrios of the town. Climate here is good because of its geographical location. Has a vast existence of trees which makes it safe for weather disturbances. Among the city waterfalls are the following:

It’s not hard to have vacations in Iligan City. Its location is effortless to reach. Through the assistance of a travel agencies or by simply creating your own travel itinerary. Flights are available from Manila (1 hr n 15minutes) or Cebu (25mins) to Cagayan or if you want to travel by sea you can make book at some shipping lines such as Cebu Ferries (Super Ferry), Gothong and Sulpicio Lines mostly travel at night for 8 hrs. From then you can ride a bus from Cagayan towards Iligan City for 2 hrs maximum.
